Emma Woolf MBE is a serial volunteer. Currently she is Chair of the Friends of Cotteridge Park (FoCP) and has been a member from its beginning in 1997. FoCP aims to develop this typical Victorian park as a focus for community activity. From that she became the 1st Chair, and currently is Vice Chair, of the Birmingham Open Spaces Forum. BOSF works to support volunteers in Birmingham’s parks and open spaces to enable them to do more and have a greater impact on their local communities.
Through the work undertaken at Cotteridge Park, Emma developed the Active Parks programme, now a co-production with Birmingham City Council and BOSF. Active Parks provides opportunities for the inactive to get physically active and more involved in their local communities.
Emma was awarded the MBE in 2014 for her “significant contribution to the community and the environment”.
