Professor Steven Loy

| Steven is a professor in exercise physiology at California State University, Northridge. For the past 12 years, he has been introducing and advocating the value of the kinesiology trained professional to the public health arena. He believes this professional is the missing link to our solving the public health crisis of physical inactivity and obesity. What is missing in the public health delivery system is the professional who understands the depth of the problem, can design and deliver appropriate physical activity programs, and teach the population how to adapt their lifestyle appropriately. To this end he developed 100 Citizens (100citizens.org) a free to the participant health and fitness exercise program delivered by undergraduate Kinesiology students in public parks with an emphasis on underserved communities. It has been replicated in 6 parks and 3 different universities without the requirement of external funding.
