Ben is a health geographer and environmental epidemiologist, and has research interests in a range of environment and human health issues. He primarily uses Geographic Information Systems and spatial analysis to combine health, social survey and environmental data. An interdisciplinary approach underpins Ben’s research, and he works with a wide range of natural and social scientists to address the complexities of relationships between the environment, health and socio-economic health inequality. Current projects are focussed around the potential benefits of nature/green space/blue space for mental health and physical activity.
Ben is the primary investigator for ‘Beyond Greenspace’ - an ESRC funded project examining the potential health benefits of different types of natural environment.
